Happy Birthday, Jess!
Another crazy thing about today is that, five years ago to the day, I met my wife.
It was briefing for a Summer Project trip. I was sitting through orientation at the Crowne Plaza near Hartsford-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, when I saw her for the first time. She was standing on the other side of a room full of people asking a question. She had on a hat and glasses, yet even then, I knew I was in trouble. See, I had worked it out that I was not going to "meet" any girls on this trip. I was going to stay focused and not try to start a relationship. But after seeing her, I knew it was going to be a battle to not pursue such an amazing woman. And, after about four weeks of misery, I gave up that battle and started to pursue the lovely woman that is now my wife!
In addition to all of that, today (and five years ago on this day) is Mother's Day.
My mother has been such a blessing to me. Throughout my entire life, she has been a pillar of truth and faith. She has always pushed me to pursue God and excellence. She is loving, kind, caring, gentle, and patient. She is a great cook and a true friend.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
